La razza Casertana ha avuto origine dai meticciamenti con quelli di origine centroeuropea. Gi\u00e0 sul finire del \u2018700 la Casertana era allevata in uno dei territori pi\u00f9 popolati del Regno Borbonico, dove era apprezzata per la grande capacit\u00e0 di produrre grasso. Alla fine del \u2018800 l\u2019allevamento suino nella provincia di Caserta rappresentava la terza realt\u00e0 per consistenza suinicola, dopo l\u2019Umbria e la provincia di Milano. Solo negli ultimi decenni la consistenza si \u00e8 contratta in modo drastico.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Altre denominazioni alternative: <em>Pelatella, Napoletana e Teanese.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Caratteristiche<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Razza di taglia piccola con scheletro leggero ma solido.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cute pigmentata (nero o grigio-ardesia); setole rade e sottili, talvolta raggruppate a formare ciuffetti sul collo, sulla testa e all\u2019estremit\u00e0 della coda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Testa di medio sviluppo e forma tronco-conica, profilo fronto-nasale rettilineo o leggermente concavo, grugno lungo e sottile; orecchie di media grandezza ravvicinate tra loro e pendenti in avanti.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Con arti medio-lunghi, asciutti e piuttosto sottili, garretti e pastorali talvolta diritti.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Viene allevata secondo metodi tradizionali allo stato brado o semi-brado.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Attitudine e prodotti<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>E\u2019 da sempre apprezzata per le sue alte rese di macellazione favorite da una costituzione scheletrica estremamente fine. Viene utilizzata per la produzione di salumi tipici, ma viene anche considerata per la carne fresca di pronto consumo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"164\" height=\"222\" src=\"https:\/\/www.leo-italy.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/image-31.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-698\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Origins<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Since roman era in Campania existed hairless, snub-nosed pigs, similar to Asian lines. Casertana breed originated from crossing&nbsp; this population with pigs from Central Europe. At the end of the 17<sup>th<\/sup> century Casertana was raised in one of the most populated territories of the Bourbon Kingdom, where it was appreciated for its attitude to produce fat. At the end of the 19<sup>th<\/sup> century pig breeding in the province of Caserta represented the third most important reality in Italy for heads, and only in last decades the head consistency decreased drastically.<br>It is also named: <em>Pelatella<\/em><em>, Napoletana <\/em>and<em> Teanese.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Peculiarities<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Population: about 500 heads in 30 farms<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Animals have small size, light and solid skeleton, pigmented skin (black or slate gray), sparse and thin bristles, medium size head with truncated conical shape, rectilinear or slightly concave front-nose profile, long and thin snout.<br>Following traditional methods, animals are reared&nbsp; in free and semi free-ranging conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Attitude and products<\/strong> <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Meat production for fresh or cured meat.
