Secondo alcune testimonianze deriverebbe da caprini introdotti da carbonai meridionali in Val Gerola e meticciati con caprini alpini locali. Secondo altre fonti si tratta di una popolazione autoctona con analogie con l\u2019Alpina comune. La testa \u00e8 proporzionata, leggera e fine, orecchie erette, di media lunghezza, mai pendenti, le corna sono molto lunghe in entrambi i sessi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Una taglia media con soggetti adulti maschi e femmine che raggiungono, rispettivamente, valori di altezza al garrese di 79 e 73 cm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Il tipo di allevamento prevede il pascolo primaverile autunnale e l\u2019alpeggio estivo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft size-full is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.leo-italy.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/image-138.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-935\" width=\"198\" height=\"268\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.leo-italy.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/image-138.png 255w, https:\/\/www.leo-italy.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/image-138-222x300.png 222w, https:\/\/www.leo-italy.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/image-138-254x343.png 254w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 198px) 100vw, 198px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Attitudine e prodotti<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>A spiccata produzione lattifera raggiunge una produzione di circa 400 litri per lattazione.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Il latte viene impiegato per la produzione di formaggi tipici quali il Bitto DOP \u201cValli del Bitto\u201d, la <em>masch\u00e8rpa<\/em> (una ricotta ottenuta con l\u2019aggiunta di latte caprino al siero della lavorazione del Bitto), caprini freschi al naturale e aromatizzati nonch\u00e9 caprini stagionati ed a crosta fiorita.
